Afghanistan to Award State Medal to German President

December 17, 2011 - President Hamid Karzai received for a meeting Rüdiger König, German ambassador for Afghanistan to thank him on behalf of the people of Afghanistan for his country’s efforts in successfully organizing the Bonn Conference and the political support to Afghanistan.
In the meeting held on Saturday afternoon in the Palace, President Karzai said Afghanistan has decided to award a prestigious state medal to President Christian Wulff in honor and recognition of Germany’s political support and efforts to successfully host and organize the international Bonn Conference as well as for the their warm and cordial reception of Afghanistan delegation.
President Karzai conveyed through Ambassador Königan invitation to President Wulff to visit Afghanistan.
The President said that Bonn conference and traditional Loya Jirga provided confidence to Afghan people that they can be involved in decisions on their important national issues. The Conference served as an assurance by the international community given to Afghanistan for continued long term cooperation.
Ambassador Königsaid the conference achieved all what was expected and said he would convey President Karzai’s invitation to President Wulff.
